German–Vietnamese Medical Symposium as Part of OTWorld

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Fri, 22 May

Short description

The German-Vietnamese symposium focuses on current trends in orthopaedics and traumatology. In the shoulder, there is discussion as to whether the so-called hemiprosthesis is superior to the inverse prosthesis. In cases of shoulder instability, it must be clarified whether and how cup defects are repaired. In hip arthroplasty, both sides are increasingly being treated in a single operation. The technique and indications are described. Due to possible septic complications, the question arises as to whether, in cases of post-traumatic coxarthrosis with embedded osteosynthesis material, this material should first be removed and endoprosthetic treatment carried out in a second operation, or whether everything can be done in a single operation. In the knee joint, the techniques of anterior and posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in arthroscopy are discussed. A central topic in surgical treatment of the spine is traumatic fractures, which place special demands on surgical technique.
