What options are available for treating a lower-leg fracture – and why is interdisciplinary cooperation so important? You will gain insight into the entire treatment and care pathway, from the operation and the prescription of a lower-leg off-loading orthosis, through its manufacture and delivery, to physiotherapy treatment and discharge.
Modern technologies and medical aids enable even people with severe physical disabilities to achieve greater mobility, as well as improved quality of life and participation. Based on studies and treatment examples, you will learn how new materials and manufacturing methods can make complex trunk orthoses and seating orthoses, for example, more precise, lighter and more functional.
Those who rise to the challenge of providing competent and empathetic treatment to children within an interdisciplinary team are not only taking on medical responsibility, but also actively shaping lives. Through practical examples of treatment, you will discover how much can be achieved with specialist knowledge, creativity, and, most importantly, close collaboration between prosthetists and orthotists, medical staff, therapists, and families, all to ensure that children with impairments are given the best possible start towards a self-determined life.
You observe how modern sports prostheses open up a wide range of opportunities for movement and inclusion – from recreational running to Paralympic sprinting. The studies presented demonstrate how biomechanical analysis, precise adjustments and motivating training work together. You gain insight into how technology and practical application are combined to ensure that patients can participate safely and effectively in sporting activities.
