Rezolve Medical is a Dutch medtech company on a mission to improve the quality of life for people living with dorsiflexor weakness. We were founded in 2023 by Lennart Zielstra, who, drawing on his own experience with drop foot following an accident, set out to rethink the standard of care in orthotics. Today, we showcase the Rise, a personalised, dynamic ankle-foot orthosis that is 3D-printed to each patient's required support and anatomy. The Rise integrates seamlessly into daily life and offers a new standard of comfort, function, and discretion for adults with drop foot.

Every person living with dorsiflexor weakness has a unique anatomy, a different cause behind their condition, and their own walking pattern. The Rise is built around that reality. Each device is personalised in three ways.

Individualised support. The stiffness and pre-load of the compliant hinge are tuned to each patient's biomechanical needs. The orthotist determines the required supporting force during a trial walking session with the demo Rise kit. The result is a controlled loading response at heel strike, a natural range of motion through stance, and consistent toe clearance during swing.

Custom force transfer. The footplate is designed from a 3D scan of the foot, following the contours of the dorsum to exert comfortable pressure while avoiding sensitive areas. The axes of rotation of the ankle and the compliant hinge are aligned to prevent chafing and translation during gait. The calf cuff is positioned at the most prominent point of the gastrocnemius for stable and comfortable force transfer.

Ergonomic component modelling. The Rise is shaped to the unique anatomy of the wearer. The strut sits away from the skin, the device avoids direct contact with sensitive areas of the foot, and the compliant hinge is positioned medially for a discreet appearance. The result is an orthosis that feels personal, integrates into daily life, and supports the patient without restricting them.

By combining personalised support, custom force transfer, and ergonomic modelling, the Rise restores a more natural gait cycle while reducing the over-activation of proximal muscle groups such as the knee and hip flexors. The outcome is a safer, more energy-efficient walking pattern that lets people with drop foot move with confidence throughout their day.
