Self-Experience Meets Orthopaedic Technology
The patient associations ahoi e.V., BMAB e.V., BuPFT e.V., and LVAmpNRW e.V. are jointly hosting a self-help booth at OTWorld featuring interactive self-experience stations. Visitors can gain insight into how different forms of disability affect everyday life - for example when walking, grasping, standing, or using assistive devices.
The stations “One-Handed in Everyday Life” and “Walking with Self-Experience Prostheses” build a bridge between the lived realities of people with disabilities and orthopaedic technology. They make it tangible why precise fitting, proper adjustment, and user-centered development of assistive devices are so essential.
The booth invites visitors to shift perspectives, engage in dialogue with those affected, and discover new impulses for needs-based care.
