KS Institut: ORTHO Base and ORTHO Seat: Products for a New Foundation in Prosthetics and Orthotics
Traditional prosthetics and orthotics care has been based on a uniform model of biomechanics. Differences between women and men are not taken into account as a fundamental factor but are instead compensated for through individual adjustments and adaptations.
Traditional prosthetics and orthotics care has been based on a uniform model of biomechanics. Differences between women and men are not taken into account as a fundamental factor but are instead compensated for through individual adjustments and adaptations. ORTHO Base and ORTHO Seat represent a significant advancement of this approach. The products are part of a system based on two distinct mechanical foundations. It takes into account structural differences in connective tissue, the organization of muscle tone, and the resulting requirements for stability and load-bearing capacity. The goal is to no longer rely on adjustments to resolve fitting issues, but rather on a suitable starting point that is specifically configured and continuously monitored. ORTHO Base and ORTHO Seat make it possible to make these different requirements in orthotic care visible and directly applicable as a coordinated unit. They are used accordingly for the female and male body, thereby forming the foundation of a gender-specific orthotic care system. This fundamentally shifts the perspective on prosthetics and orthotics: It is not the body that is adapted to a model. Rather, the orthotic care follows the body. This foundation is the starting point for alignment and thus a prerequisite for stability, movement, and load-bearing capacity, taking into account the specific requirements of women and men.
