Integrated Mobility Ecosystems for Inclusive Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology Access

Shonaquip Social Enterprise presents an integrated ecosystem approach to assistive technology and inclusive rehabilitation, developed through decades of work in resource-constrained environments across Africa and global partnerships.

Rather than viewing assistive technology as a standalone product intervention, our model focuses on the systems required to enable long-term participation, health outcomes, and sustainable inclusion. This includes the integration of assistive technology design and manufacturing, clinical service delivery, training and workforce development, family and community empowerment, and policy and systems engagement. Our mobility and posture support solutions are modular, repairable, and ISO 13485-aligned, designed specifically for real-world conditions where infrastructure, specialist access, and long-term support pathways are often fragmented. Alongside manufacturing, we operate clinical outreach services, workforce training programs, and a Rural Assistive Device Test Laboratory that validates products in real-world environments. Today, our ecosystem impacts more than 350,000 lives annually across multiple countries and has delivered over 160,000 assistive devices alongside extensive training and capacity-building initiatives. At OTWorld, we are introducing this systems-based approach to rehabilitation and assistive technology access to explore partnerships across Germany and Europe in: - distribution and market access, - clinical collaboration, - workforce development, - product testing and co-development, - and inclusive industrialisation. Our goal is not simply to introduce products into new markets, but to contribute to stronger, more sustainable mobility ecosystems that enable participation and inclusion.
