FH Münster: MOTION Orthosis
The MOTION test orthosis (Measurement of Orthotic Torque during ambulatION), presented here for the first time, is a modular, customizable lower-leg and foot orthosis that uses integrated measurement technology to precisely record the orthosis’s supportive effect.
The patented sensor concept enables the measurement of deformation angles and resistance moments during walking without significantly affecting the orthosis’s functionality or weight. This innovation allows key parameters to be collected wirelessly in real time even during the initial assessment. Using the modular system, the height, neutral angle, and stiffness of the MOTION orthosis can be flexibly adjusted. This enables an efficient evaluation of various configurations—optionally supplemented by a gait analysis. Based on the data, conclusions can be drawn regarding individual support needs to optimally plan the final fitting. The system was developed as part of the ERDF project INDiGO (Innovative Sustainable Digital Gender-Equitable Orthotic Care) in cooperation with MUUV GmbH and the Competence Center for Technical Orthopedics & Rehabilitation Technology Kramer GmbH & Co. KG.
