US-German Exchange: Shared perspectives on scoliosis care

For the fourth time, OTWorld is collaborating with the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP). The transatlantic collaboration in 2026 will focus on adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), with programme items on both continents.

Under the label "OTWorld Congress – P&O insights", the AAOP, the German Association of Orthopaedic Technology (BIV-OT), and OTWorld are deepening their professional exchange. The aim is to compare current approaches to orthotic treatment of adolescent scoliosis patients in the US and Germany and to provide impetus for closer interdisciplinary cooperation.

A symposium and a workshop will be held at both the AAOP Annual Meeting & Scientific Symposium in Nashville (February 18–21, 2026) and OTWorld 2026 in Leipzig (May 19–22, 2026).

Contributors include Dr. Stefan Hemmer and Beate Flügel (Universitätsklinikum Heidelberg) as well as Dr. Brandon Ramo (Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children) and Leigh Pipkin (Children's Healthcare of Atlanta). They will provide insights into different care concepts and experiences from both countries.
