No matter if it is about study or research results, exemplary treatment cases or P&O contributions: You can actively shape the scientific programme of the World Congress!

The World Congress Scientific Programme Committee invites you to submit an abstract. Abstracts can be submitted at any time from now until 17 September 2023. Submissions on paediatric, adolescent and neuro-orthopaedics, which will be a focus in 2024, are especially encouraged.

Submission formats and topics

Abstracts on scientific studies or technical/P&O contributions or scientific case studies or technical/P&O treatment cases will be accepted on the following topics:

  • Prosthetics
  • Orthotics
  • Foot&Shoe/Orthopaedic footwear technology
  • Rehabilitation
  • Biomechanics
  • Pediatric/adolescent or neuro-orthopaedics
  • Digitalisation
  • Education
  • Free topics (sports orthopaedics/parasports, material research, measurement technology, production technology, adaptive technology, etc.))

Treatment areas

Demand-based treatment with medical aids is the key intervention for growing numbers of patients and people with disabilities, which helps maintaining independence, mobility as well as participation of everyday life. As we have come to expect from previous editions of this event, OTWorld 2024 will be placing a clear focus on technical knowledge and innovation and offers all experts working in interdisciplinary teams a choice of new and unparalleled informative events covering all core treatment areas, with a crystal-clear focus on expertise and innovation. Please classify your submission as relevant to one or more treatment areas.

Presentation types

Papers can be presented as a lecture or an ePoster (including a short talk). The programme committee will make every effort to assign papers to the requested type of presentation. However, it reserves the right to assign papers to other kinds of presentations.

ePoster with a short talk

Accepted ePosters will be displayed on monitors in a permanent digital exhibition. In addition to the visual presentation, ePosters can be presented in oral short talks, in thematically grouped sessions. After acceptance of an ePoster, the author will receive separate information for creating an ePoster and short talk.

Deadline

Abstracts may only be submitted online .

Deadline for submissions: 17 September 2023

In all cases, it will be assumed that the lead author will also be the speaker.

The abstract must not have been previously presented at OTWorld before.

Peer review process

After the submission deadline (17 September 2023), all abstracts will be anonymised and sent to at least two specialists to be evaluated.

You can find more details on the evaluations in the submission guidelines (PDF, 466 kB) .

On the basis of these evaluations, the programme committee will decide whether to accept or reject abstracts.

Confirmation of acceptance or rejection will be given in December 2023.

Congress languages

The official congress languages are English and German. Simultaneous interpreting will be available in the second language. Abstracts may only be submitted in either German or English and presentations must be given in the submission language.

Publication

All accepted abstracts will be published online in the congress programme. By submitting an abstract, authors give Confairmed GmbH the right to publish it on the website, in printed media, in newsletters and also in a volume of abstracts if needed.

Disclosure of conflicts of interest

In accordance with the "Recommendations on Continuing Medical Education of the German Medical Association", the state medical association responsible for certification (CME) requires that possible conflicts of interest must be disclosed to the participants and also to the medical association if requested.
