Co-Adaptation: the Key to a New Generation of Assistive Robots

Orthopaedic technology devices (prostheses, exoskeletons, rehab robots, etc.) are intended to alleviate rising demands in the care and rehabilitation of patients with motor disorders. However, they have not yet been established as the standard in hospitals. Co-adaptation is the key to improving their acceptance and effectiveness. Participants learn about the effectiveness of measuring and promoting the mutual adaptation of the user and robot through intent recognition, somatosensory feedback and structured human-robot interaction.
