Breast prosthetics at OTWorld: Rethinking holistic care after breast cancer

Breast prosthetics is far more than functional support after surgery. At OTWorld 2026, visitors will see how breast care is evolving — with greater comfort, more personalisation and a stronger focus on quality of life, counselling and holistic support.

A field of care with real everyday relevance

Breast prosthetics is a topic that often receives little public attention, yet it plays an important role in the everyday lives of many women. At OTWorld 2026, this area of care will be brought into sharper focus. Trade visitors will gain insights into new products, current care concepts and the question of how counselling after breast cancer can be approached today.

It is no longer just about functional fitting. Breast care also touches on body image, confidence, participation and quality of life — while placing high demands on specialist expertise, empathy and individual support.

Between function, comfort and personal well-being

Among the companies presenting products for women after mastectomy at OTWorld is Anita Dr. Helbig (Hall 5 / C12). For many decades, this family-run company has combined lingerie and swimwear with excellent fit, high comfort and quality, drawing on more than 50 years of experience in breast care. With specialised ranges for different target groups, Anita develops products tailored to the needs of women at various stages of life. This approach is also reflected in its breast care portfolio, where medical function, everyday practicality and comfort are consistently combined.

amoena (Hall 5 / C25) will also demonstrate at OTWorld how broad and specialised breast care has become today. The company has supported women for many years after breast-conserving surgery or mastectomy with full and partial breast prostheses as well as individual solutions. Its range is complemented by lingerie, swimwear and products for clinical and lymphatic care. For OTWorld, amoena is also announcing new developments in comfort — including a bra collection designed to provide secure support while feeling almost weightless.

MEGAMI (Hall 3 / A14) from Wiesbaden is another, still young, provider represented at OTWorld. The family-run company combines medical functionality with a strong design ethos and focuses on a new generation of prosthetic lingerie. Its products are designed not only to provide support, but also to help women feel secure and confident in everyday life. The range includes wireless bras and swimwear, with soft prosthesis pockets, high-quality materials, a good fit and excellent wearing comfort at the forefront.

Together, these companies show just how much breast care has diversified — and how, alongside medical function, comfort, design and individual needs are becoming increasingly important.

Workshops with practical insights for everyday care

Several workshops in the congress programme, included in the trade show ticket, show how these developments translate into practice.

On 19 May from 11:00 to 11:45 in Hall 3, Room 5, amoena will present new, holistic approaches to caring for women after breast cancer. The focus will be on the close connection between breast and lymphatic care. The workshop will show how modern care solutions can not only meet functional requirements, but also actively contribute to improving quality of life. Alongside innovative product solutions and current care concepts, the session will also offer practical tips for day-to-day work in specialist retail.

MEGAMI will explore a different but equally important aspect on 20 May from 11:00 to 11:45 in Hall 3, Room 5 with the workshop “Intimate Product – Empathetic Advice”. The focus will be on how to advise on a product that goes far beyond its function and often touches on emotional issues. Leonid Bakin will introduce the brand and its vision. Sergey Bakin will discuss the development of the “perfect prosthetic bra” and present bestsellers as well as new models. Maria Egorova, Community & Partnership Lead and cancer survivor, will bring in the patient perspective and show how sales teams can provide empathetic advice, better understand customers and remain emotionally resilient themselves.

A more medical introduction will be offered in the workshop “Breast prostheses: navigating the tension between a cancer diagnosis, cost pressures and the psychological strain on all involved” on Friday, 22 May, from 10:30 to 11:30 in Room 5 at the OTWorld Congress Centre. Petra Menkel (Paul Schulze GmbH) will begin with an introduction to breast cancer and current surgical methods. The workshop will then provide an overview of common breast prostheses and show how professionals can gain confidence in supporting customers competently and empathetically.

More visibility for an often underestimated topic

OTWorld 2026 is bringing greater visibility to an area of care that plays a major role for many women, but is often only marginally recognised in public debate. It shows how breast prosthetics is evolving in terms of expertise, design and counselling — and provides trade visitors with fresh inspiration for sensitive, holistic care.
