The programme committee of the OTWorld 2020 world congress invites you to submit abstracts for free papers. Please submit your abstracts by 15 September 2019 at the latest.

Figures and tables
One image-file can be uploaded in JPG, PNG or GIF format; Word, Excel or PowerPoint format cannot be processed. Tables can be included by taking a screenshot of them and - if necessary - rotating the image by 90 degrees, such that the image is in upright format, aspect ratio 3:4 is best.
Formatting and restrictions
To ensure anonymity in the peer review procedure, the abstract may not contain any information on the authors, hospitals or institutions. No special text formatting may be used as we cannot guarantee that these formats will be correctly displayed in all types of publications. The abstracts should be free from spelling mistakes. Abbreviations within the abstract must be explained at the first use.
Presentation types
Contributions may be given orally or as an ePoster (with short lecture). The programme committee strives to assign submissions to the desired presentation type, but retains the right to allocate them to another type.
Submission
It is assumed that the first named author is the speaker.
The abstract must be assigned to a topic and a presentation type. The abstract may not have been previously presented at OTWorld.
Peer Review Procedure
After the submission deadline (15 September 2019), all abstracts will be anonymised and sent to at least two reviewers for evaluation.
Every abstract will be evaluated in the categories:
Scientific/practical presentations
- relevance/innovation
- methodology
- scientific value/practical relevance
Case studies
- complexity of the presentation
- innovation/creativity of the solution
- potential of the concept
with up to 5 points each, that is a maximum of 15 points per reviewer. Based on these reviews, the programme committee will decide to accept or reject the abstract.
You will be notified of acceptance or rejection in November 2019. The author of an accepted abstract agrees to attend the congress and present the paper in the time slot and on the topic assigned by the programme committee.
If the accepted abstract is unexcused not presented at the congress, the first author cannot submit contributions for the next congress.
Congress Languages
The congress languages are German and English. Simultaneous interpretation into the other language will be offered. Abstracts can be submitted in German or English, the submission language is the same as the presentation language.
Publication
All accepted abstracts will be published online in the congress programme. By submitting an abstract, the author grants Confairmed GmbH the right to publish the abstract on the website, in print media and newsletters. Please note that your abstract will be published in the submitted form and no corrections can be made. If necessary, the organisers reserve the right to modify faulty abstracts without consultation for publication.
With the submission the first author assumes the responsibility for the correctness of the data. The responsibility for the clarification of any copyrights of third parties regarding the content of the abstract lies with the first author. Thus, authors guarantee that all illustrations, tables, etc. do not contain third-party rights that prevent publication.
Disclosure conflicts of interests
Conflicts of interest are widespread in the healthcare sector. Among other things, the state medical boards (Landesärztekammer) which are responsible for the certification of medical education courses in Germany require that potential conflicts of interest are disclosed to participants and upon request.
Any conflicts of interest caused by donations must be disclosed. The following information should be disclosed if there is a conflict of interest:
- Work as a consultant or surveyor
- Receiving fees for lecturing or training activities
- Grants from research funds
- Ownership of shares, funds with participation of companies in the healthcare industry
- Owner interests in pharmaceuticals/medical devices
- Personal relationships with representatives of a company in the healthcare industry
ePoster with short lecture
Accepted ePosters will be displayed on monitors in a permanent digital exhibition. In addition to the visual presentation, ePosters will be presented in oral short lectures, in thematically grouped sessions. After acceptance of an ePoster, the author will receive separate information for creating an ePoster and short lecture.
Awards
The German Association of Orthopaedic Technology (Bundesinnungsverband für Orthopädie-Technik), as the conceptual partner of OTWorld, and the OT publishing house (Verlag Orthopädie-Technik) award three prizes among the free paper submissions. Prizes will be awarded for the best oral presentation, the best ePoster and the best paper submitted by a young professional. The prizes are endowed with € 500 each. On the basis of the evaluations made in the peer review process, an evaluation committee will decide upon the award winners after reviewing the contributions. All abstracts that have been submitted will automatically take part in the competition.
