Second Meeting of the Rehab Technology Working Group
At the beginning of July, the Rehab Technology Working Group met for the second time to continue preparations for the Technical forum for rehabilitation at OTWorld 2020. Members of the working group include representatives of industry (Netti by Alu Rehab, Otto Bock HealthCare, MEYRA, Sunrise Medical, Schuchmann GmbH & Co. KG, rehatec Dieter Frank GmbH), service provider employees (Reha-aktiv, RTM), rehaKIND e.V. representatives and the German Association of Orthopaedic Technology (BUFA).
At the first meeting of the Rehab Technology Working Group in April, this year's main topic "People with CP - well cared for all their life" was agreed upon, together with the concept partner rehaKIND e.V.. The second meeting focused on the design of the special show, the products/medical aids to be presented and the range of programmes offered by the Technical forum for rehabilitation.
Presentation of the Life-long Complex Care for a CP Patient
The group quickly agreed to present the life phases of a CP patient from childhood to adulthood, with the respective care spectrum at individual wards, in the Technical forum for rehabilitation. The idea is to present the patients changing needs as they relate to the different phases of life and what new and/or different tools are required in the various phases. This highlights the importance of interaction within the care team. A singular view of the individual phases of illness and development should be avoided. Optimal care, which is ultimately economically prudent, can only be provided when those involved consider the person as a whole and their entire life span. Presentations of these phases will be supplemented by lectures and discussions. This special show will also be of interest to the participants from the Youth.Academy TO.
The Rehab Technology Working Group
The Rehab Technology Working Group is an advisory committee consisting of service providers and manufacturers, especially in the field of rehab technology. It is one of the three permanent working groups alongside the Medical Supply Working Group and the Prosthetists and Orthotists Working Group. At the meetings, the technical contents of the Technical forum for rehabilitation are defined. The Technical forum for rehabilitation at OTWorld uses practical examples to demonstrate the modern implementation of individual and patient-friendly aids with an inter-professional (care) team. The target groups are rehabilitation and orthopaedic technicians, doctors, occupational therapists and physiotherapists, owners and employees of medical supply stores, employees of cost bearers and representatives of socio-paediatric centres.
