World Congress: Planning Enters a New Round
On 15 October, the Programme Committee met to agree on initial cornerstones for the OTWorld 2020 Congress.
There are more than 570 days before OTWorld opens its doors again. Nevertheless, preparations are already underway. The proposal for the upcoming World Congress was made by the Programme Committee headed by the two Congress Presidents, Dr. med. Christoph Josten, Managing Director of Klinik und Poliklinik für Orthopädie, Unfallchirurgie und Plastische Chirurgie, Universitätsklinikum Leipzig (University Hospital Leipzig) and presidium member for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Unfallchirurgie (German Society for Trauma Surgery), and CPO Michael Schäfer, Pohlig GmbH Managing Director and Bundesinnungsverbandes für Orthopädie-Technik (German Association of Orthopaedic Technology) on 15 October. They met with scientific, trade experts and team representatives from Confairmed and Leipziger Messe in Dortmund.

Programme planning for the 2020 congress was on the agenda. The World Congress promises an inter-professional advanced training programme with a wide range of event formats for the upcoming OTWorld. In addition to the tried and true formats, new ones are planned, where interprofessional treatment concepts will be presented by a care team and specialists will impart basic and background knowledge on their respective topics. A special highlight will be the daily presentation by renowned keynote speakers, who offer exciting impulses for the sector.
Visitors can expect a wide range of topics from orthotics and prosthetics, orthopaedic footwear technology, rehabilitation technology and biomechanics to sports medicine, production technology and advanced training. Pediatric orthopaedics, Pediatric treatment and digitalisation will be examined in more detail. Numerous professional societies and associations are involved in the organisation of the World Congress's scientific programme.
New: Call for Symposia
In addition to the Call for Papers, which starts from January 2019 and asks for abstract submission free paper contributions, there will be a Call for Symposia for the first time. Thus, in addition to lectures and ePosters, proposals for symposia by international experts can also be submitted to the World Congress.
