Sneak preview of OTWorld 2018

Hands on experience of some new and innovative technologies, together with discussion of modern treatment methods – that and much more awaits you at OTWorld 2018.

Issues such as evidence-based orthotic / prosthetic treatment and digitalisation will come under a particular spotlight. The entire health service is facing radical change as a result of digitalisation and this has also reached areas involving prosthetic and orthotic aids and treatments. Under the heading ‘Orthopaedics 4.0’, consideration will be given at OTWorld 2018, both in the World Congress and in the International Trade Fair, to important developments, trends and challenges in the orthopaedic technology sector of tomorrow.

Inspirational highlights in the Congress

Symposia, panel discussions and other discursive event formats, with topics structured in advance by the Chairs and the relevant professional bodies, are a firmly established component of the Congress Programme. Distinguished experts will provide inspiration on a daily basis in informative and fascinating keynote speeches, as they highlight issues in their own particular fields:

Felix Brunner, Motivational Expert: From the mountain to the wheelchair and back

Prof. Dr. Christoph Josten: The spine

Klaus-Jürgen Lot: OTWorld Opening Address

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Robert Riener: Rehabilitation 4.0

Prof. Ronald Triolo: Walking with external muscle stimulation – some visionary approaches

Innovative newcomers: Start-up Zone

Innovations and technological progress are what drive the continuously growing orthotic and prosthetic aids market, particularly in this age of digitalisation. The Start-up Zone will be showcasing developments and trends that can change the future, together with business ideas that are having a significant impact in the market – a unique opportunity to meet potential German and international customers, investors and partners.

Thematic tours of the show

How does digitalisation make its way in the workshop? What is new in terms of lymphatic and compression therapies? What aids assist with medical treatments? These are all questions that orthopaedic shoemakers, doctors and staff in surgical stores and medical supplies centres regularly ask themselves. For the first time, guided tours of the exhibition are being offered to help visitors to OTWorld 2018 access concentrated, technically specific information about the very latest products and developments on show at the international trade fair.

Colleagues network and meet up

With a view, above all, to bringing together the new talent in all the different disciplines, the International Youth.Academy Technical Orthopaedics will be held, for a second time, as part of OTWorld. With the slogan ‘Learn, Share, Celebrate’, trainees and students in areas of prosthetics & orthotics, orthopaedic footwear technology, medicine and physiotherapy have an opportunity here to share their experiences. And significant numbers of younger members of the profession from outside Germany have already signed up for 2018. Some 500 participants are expected, including trainees, students and young professionals from Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland.

Alongside all the professional considerations, there will also be time to celebrate! With the cry of “O’Zapft is” (“the barrel’s tapped”), OTWorld will be inviting participants to an Oktoberfest party of its own in the KONGRESSHALLE am Zoo.
