OTWorld Congress "P&O Insights" - International Exchange of Knowledge

For the first time, OTWorld is cooperating with the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP). The OTWorld World Congress will present a lecture series at the Academy meeting in Chicago in early March, followed by two joint symposia with AAOP at OTWorld in Leipzig in May. With this, the international trade show and world congress is taking another important step towards promoting the global exchange about orthopaedic treatment and care.

Last year's successful cooperation with the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) was established and at the World Congress in Kobe (Japan) the lecture series "OTWorld Congress - P&O insights" was added to the programme for the first time. This insights format will now be continued at the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP) meeting in Chicago in March. This is the second time that the event has worked with an international industry association. "With the concept 'OTWorld Congress - P&O insights', we are pursuing the goal of providing insights into technical orthopaedics, which are presented at the leading international event OTWorld, and also at other locations with innovative topics and top-class speakers," explains Antje Feldmann, Project Director of the OTWorld World Congress.

In return, two sessions will be initiated together with AAOP at OTWorld next May. A lecture series will present and discuss the current state of the art in transfemoral socket design in the USA and Germany. It will include current research results and clinical standards for transfemoral prostheses in Germany. The second session will focus on assessments, documentation options and clinical research science in addition to routine care. Its agenda includes an exemplary prosthetics register, evaluation instruments and research strategies for small practice settings.

In the USA the AAOP stands for promotion, improvement and professionalism in patient care and is therefore pursuing the same goal as the German Association of Orthopaedic Technology, the conceptual partner of OTWorld, in Germany. "This cooperation with the Academy is an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge between the two leading continents in the supply of medical aids," says Antje Feldmann.
