Promoting assistive technology across the world
Assistive Technology for All – this was the motto for ISPO’s 16th World Congress, from 8 to 11 May 2017. The OTWorld team was right there.
Join the progress. This is OTWorld’s motto. This time we travelled to Cape Town to see our colleagues from the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO). The responsibility for the treatment of people with disabilities connects our two organisations, and we actively support progress in terms of the access to and the quality of assistive technology, particularly in developing countries. South Africa, an emerging market, was the perfect location for this, with its combined status as both developing country and high-tech nation. We congratulate them on the success of the World Congress and look forward to the next event in Kobe in 2019.
Since the ISPO World Congress in 2010, which took place in Leipzig at the same time with OTWorld (formerly known as Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Technology), Leipziger Messe has been responsible for organising the trade exhibition. During this time, large numbers of exhibitors have benefited from the synergy effects of the two events. A partnership has developed with ISPO, which has fostered a constructive and lasting working relationship. ISPO also actively supports the Scientific Committee, whose members include representatives from ISPO Germany, ISPO Austria and ISPO Netherlands.
