Zusammenfassung:

This talk will describe research trends in the design of lower limb prosthetics, which largely focus on enhancing the adaptability of device behavior across multiple activities and terrain types. This research trend primarily started approximately a decade ago with efforts to add motive power to knee and ankle joints, with the intention of better reproducing behaviors of the healthy limb (for example during activities such as stair and slope ascent and descent). This class of devices are generally called powered prostheses. The development of powered prosthetic technology has more recently led to a corresponding research trend in semi-powered, or hybrid prosthesis design. Hybrid design approaches exploit the adaptive behaviors of commercially-available microprocessor-controlled knees and ankles, but expand the capability and range of adaptability of these devices by adding small amounts of motive power. This talk will describe this progression in research trends; will present various powered and hybrid devic
