Dynamic Metrics Ltd provide a fully automated personalised rehabilitation programme to help people walk better. GaitSmart, our sensor based system measures a person’s gait kinematics in less than 10 minutes. Seven sensors are mounted in to custom straps on the patient’s thighs, calves and pelvis, plus one on the base of their spine and the person then walks 10 m. Data is uploaded to the cloud and analysed. The report quantifies hip and knee range on both legs and uses traffic light coding and an overall GaitSmart score to indicate the severity of specific gait abnormalities. Musculoskeletal modelling identifies muscle weakness and determines optimum exercises to address these. Our solution is suitable for anyone with issues walking. The most common conditions are frail older people, people with hip or knee osteoarthritis and those who have undergone joint replacement.
