Welcome Back: We Look Forward to Seeing You Again
At OTWorld in Leipzig, it will finally be possible once again to discuss specialist topics with colleagues, discover product innovations and get inspiration. Nearly 300 exhibitors from over 27 countries have already registered for this leading world trade show and World Congress, which is returning to the exhibition centre with additional digital events. Preparations are in full swing for this globally unique industry meeting in Leipzig from 10 to 13 May 2022.
"The industry is desperately looking forward to talking to each other in person again. After the purely digital OTWorld.connect in 2020, our partners from industry, business and associations are thrilled by the prospect of taking part in person", explains Martin Buhl-Wagner, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe. "Even though the ongoing pandemic situation is still challenging and volatile, we are continuing with our plans to hold the next edition of OTWorld as a live event. As the organiser, we will create a perfect environment for the fair to take place as safely as possible for everyone involved, of course with the help of our proven Safe Expo hygiene concept".
At this leading global get-together for the modern orthopaedic treatment and care industry, we expect exhibitors from more than 27 countries, including Australia, Canada, Sweden and Taiwan. About half of the 300 registered exhibitors come from overseas. All the market leaders, such as Bauerfeind, medi, ÖSSUR, Ottobock, Schein, Streifeneder and Teufel, have announced they will be taking part in OTWorld 2022. As in previous years, the international trade show and World Congress will take place in three exhibition halls.
Industry Excitedly Awaits Global Event
"After the last edition of OTWorld could only take place online owing to the pandemic, the event will be back at the exhibition centre and offering both old and new features in 2022. It is an event that is explicitly welcomed by manufacturers in all sectors of treatment and care, who are already investing plenty of energy and enthusiasm in exciting concepts, since they are well aware of the importance of offering visitors what they have come to expect from OTWorld. As the world's largest and most important leading trade show for the health aid industry, we aim to offer an overview, information and debate on the latest developments in treatment and care for both practitioners and patients," says Christoph Thiel, authorised signatory of Wilhelm Julius Teufel GmbH and spokesperson for the EUROCOM prosthetics working group.
Every other year, OTWorld brings together experts from all over the world and provides a benchmark in the various areas of treatment and care as the most important platform for innovation and dialogue.
Sustainable Concepts for Orthopaedic Treatment and Care in the Future
"The pandemic crisis has shown us that reliable orthopaedic treatment and care cannot function by parcel service or working from home. A product only turns into treatment or care when it is used on a patient to improve their quality of life. We work close to the body and this means we can only help patients with treatment and care if we have contact to them. An event focused on treatment and care but without any personal contact will always involve significant restrictions", explains Alf Reuter, President of the German Association of Orthopaedic Technology (BIV-OT). "The pandemic has really shown us how fragile the health system is when responding to a crisis. If we want to be able to provide up-to-date treatment and care in the future, we must set the right course now. It is not possible to discuss this at a video conference. It needs intensive discussion by the experts. This is why personal dialogue with colleagues at events such as OTWorld is hugely important for the industry. As the most important industry showcase for innovation, OTWorld sets the standards for both current and future concepts in treatment and care."
OTWorld offers a stage for all members of treatment and care teams to come and take part in the interdisciplinary debate on providing the best possible treatment and care for patients. This knowledge transfer of new treatment and care concepts provides participants across the world with new inspiration for their day-to-day work.
The International Trade Show and World Congress OTWorld offers a unique range of products and services to technicians in orthopaedics, orthopaedic footwear and rehabilitation as well as therapists, doctors, engineers, and medical trade and insurance companies' employees. Due to restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020 OTWorld.connect Special Edition took place in exclusively digital form as an online world congress with virtual product worlds – confirming its position as the world's leading industry meeting place. More than 4,400 accounts from 93 countries accessed the 2020 event either live or via the Media Library, which remained available for three months afterwards. Generally, each account was used by several users. The Media Library alone counted more than 15,000 accesses for the lectures stored within.
As long as the pandemic allows, OTWorld will return as an international on-site event with supplementary global digital attendance from 10 to 13 May 2022. The German Association of Orthopaedic Technology (BIV-OT) is OTWorld's conceptual partner. The owner of the OTWorld brand and organiser of the congress is Confairmed GmbH. The Leipziger Messe GmbH is responsible for the trade show.
