This is the first study showing improvements in PROM attributed to CDS orthotics in the majority of joints after a short treatment period with consecutive clinical improvements of individually set goals in children and adolescents with chronic neurological conditions.
In this study, an instrumented multi-function ankle-foot orthosis with independently adjustable stiffness, torque threshold and ankle alignment was used to investigate the unique and isolated influence of these AFO mechanical characteristics on gait kinetics and kinematics for a patient with CMT.
Case studies will show that contractures can be treated and tone can be managed following the LLPS to obtain a better ROM with a dynamic hinge on an orthosis. Achieving physiological ROM is needed to apply the most effective orthosis and to help patients to improve gait and functional activities.
