Die Ausbildung zum Physiotherapeuten findet über eine fachschulische oder hochschulische Ausbildung statt. Während der praktischen Ausbildung in unterschiedlichen Fachgebieten (u. a. auch Orthopädie und Chirurgie) kommen Auszubildende bereits in Kontakt mit anderen Gesundheitsfachberufen.
