Foot orthoses improve postural stability via a somatosensory or biomechanical effect. Use of footwear with the proper features can be an appropriate intervention in order to increase the balance in the older population and reduce falls.
Shoe modifications are one of the interventions used to heal diabetic wounds. People with diabetes need insoles and shoes with special modifications. Shoe rockers can be used to reduce pressure on sensitive areas, depending on the location of the wound.
Gait and balance disorders are common in the elderly populations, and their prevalence increases with age. This systematic review was performed to summarize the current evidence for sub-threshold vibration interventions on postural control and gait in elderly.
