Hydraulic Plantar-Flexion Control, New Concept of AFO

Abstract: When patients have hemiplegia after stroke or peroneal nerve palsy, and they indicate drop-foot, various types of AFO are prescribed to maintain walking safety. In Japan, plastic AFO is usually prescribed. But when we reconsider AFO as the device for reconstruction their gait, plastic AFO is not supposed to be best option for all of them. We co-developed new AFO joint which has new concepts with Prof. Sumiko Yamamoto (PhD, International University of Health and Welfare, Japan).
