BALEVA, an instrumental measuring method for quantifying balance in persons after lower leg amputation

Effects of crossover and energy storing prosthetic feet on laboratory- and community-based health outcomes in people with transtibial amputation

Abstract: A randomized crossover study was used to assess the effects of crossover and energy storing feet on health outcomes in people with transtibial amputation. Results indicate that crossover feet are a promising alternative to energy storing feet for users who engage in daily and high-level activities.

Amputee activity-monitoring through prosthetic foot spring deflection measurements

Abstract: Development and validation of a novel activity monitor (AM) relying on foot deflection measurements is described. The amputee walking tests suggest that in most walking scenarios, the activity monitor counts steps with accuracy comparable or better than StepWatch – a current gold standard in AM.

Enhancement of prosthetic foot design – Linking mechanical gait test method and FE model for simulation of stiffness response

Abstract: The research is based on a finite element (FE) model of a known prosthetic foot design, which is validated by mechanical testing of the actual product. The model is used to define the stiffness characteristics of the foot and further enhanced to simulate a controllable stiffness element in the foot.
