Study of the residual limb and socket interactions using a poly-instrumented prosthesis in a population of transfemoral amputees during gait

Abstract: Goal of this project is to monitor the residual limb-socket interactions during walking activities including electromyography (EMG), ultrasound (US), socket pressure, and kinematics and kinetics in order to provide a better understanding of how transfemoral amputees control their prosthesis.

Effect of socket fit, cadence and suspension on multiaxial in-socket movement of the residual limb

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to: 1) measure pistoning and horizontal motion (transverse plane) of the limb inside the socket using an inductive proximity sensor; 2) measure changes in the movement due to socket fit; 3) determine relationship to elevated vacuum pressure fluctuation during gait.

Gait characteristics of 53 trans-tibial amputees

Abstract: We investigated the gait patterns of 53 trans-tibial (TT) amputees with respect to significant differences in comparison to non-amputees. In contrast to previous studies we found a more pronounced knee flexion during weight bearing and no overloading on the sound contra-lateral side.

The effects of two different types of chopart prostheses during level walking on gait parameters, socket and plantar pressure

Abstract: The loss of the forefoot lever due to Chopart amputation is a known problem and often a Bellmann (BP) or Clamshell prosthesis (CSP) is fitted to restore the foot length. Both devices address foot length however the CSP seems to be more effective in creating an adequate foot lever.

Abstract: Diese Studie soll untersuchen ob die Alltagsaktivität von Patienten mit Kniegelenksprothese mit Hilfe eines Fragebogens beurteilt werden kann. Im Vergleich zu der tatsächlich gemessenen Aktivität zeigen sich Diskrepanzen, die die Validität von Fragebögen für dieses Patientenklientel in Frage stellen
