ALFESS™ is a new innovative solution for foot drop. This device can also be called a Digital Foot Drop Orthosis, FES or Neurostimulator. The device assists in lifting the foot when walking, by sensors that are strategically applied to the skin. Electrical impulses are then sent to the nerves that supply the lower limb muscles and this assists in lifting of the foot,resulting in an improved gait pattern. It is mainly damage to the Central Nervous System such as: Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Stroke (CVA), Cerebral Palsy (CP), Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), who can take advantage of this type of treatment.
