TECHNICAL FORUM FOR REHABILITATION
People living with cerebral palsy – good practice of care and therapy throughout life
The Technical Forum for Rehabilitation right in the middle of the trade show is the place to go for all rehabilitation technicians, physical and occupational therapists, physicians and surgeons as well as health insurers. It offers a central starting point for professional development and exchange.
The Technical Forum for Rehabilitation showcases the best possible albeit complex provision of technical medical aids throughout all stages of life of people affected by CP – spanning infancy to adulthood – leaving room for discussion. Starting from the very first orthotic devices and orthopaedic footwear to stand aids and walkers to appropriate seating and positioning equipment, to wheelchair provision including environmental control.

In 2018, the focus of the Technical Forum for Rehabilitation was on wheelchair provision. Consequently, the hub for rehabilitation technicians was located once again in the middle of the trade show in hall 3.
Visitors had the opportunity to gain profound insight into the particular steps of customized wheelchair fitting. With the help of individual cases, professionals of the health care team introduced various key issues as part of moderated stage presentations. Against the backdrop of indication-based examination, the full spectrum of aids ranging from standard-issue solutions to extremely sophisticated individual one-off constructions has been presented. Furthermore, the role of the health care team was highlighted while illustrating the entire scope of wheelchair provision at the same time.
In addition to demonstrating the process of wheelchair fitting in dedicated stage presentations, this time the OTWorld paid special attention to contractual issues in the field of rehabilitation technology. In form of dialogue, a lawyer introduced and discussed legal aspects concerning the provision of wheelchairs with the assembled visitors.
|On Stage||20 stage presentations on 7 key issues|
|Exhibition||In the exhibition space, visitors had the opportunity to profoundly examine and to test the orthopaedic devices presented.|
Ranging from individually fitted wheelchairs for people affected by multiple sclerosis or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) to mobility solutions for geriatric users to customized power wheelchairs.
A stand-up wheelchair boasts many advantages – it allows to meet at eye level, relieves the organs and strengthens the skeletal and locomotor system.
Along the care chain, the wheelchair fitting of individual one-off constructions for overweight people (up to 250 kg) is being demonstrated.
Specially designed for the ergonomic needs of obese patients, the XXL wheelchair offers an optimized, particularly relieving sitting position as well as sufficient foot space for "paddling".
The specially designed seats had the potential to become a bestseller.
Attending the 20 stage presentations must be carefully coordinated.
